Celebrating International Women’s Day 2025

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a time to recognise and celebrate the achievements of women across the globe while reaffirming our commitment to gender equality. This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action” encourages us to take steps to promote a culture where all women feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.

At Kersia, we take this opportunity to reflect on the progress we have made in promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace. We recognise that true diversity goes beyond hiring statistics—it’s about creating an environment where every individual has an equal opportunity to grow and thrive.

Our Progress in Gender Diversity

Over the last few years, we have taken significant steps toward greater gender equality within our company:

Increased Representation:

  • 30% of the workforce in the UK are female, and 10% of those are in managerial roles.
  • 33% of the Board of Directors in the UK are female.
  • 39% of women make up the delegates on our prestigious Talent Management program—the future of the business.
  • 50% of the UK delegates on our Committed and Different program are female. This program is dedicated to supporting equality and inclusion in the workplace and the wider community.

Equitable Hiring Practices:
By refining our recruitment strategies, we have increased female representation across departments, particularly in traditionally male-dominated field-based roles. 43% of our Farm Sales Team in the UK are now women.

Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to the Future

While we are proud of the strides we have made, we recognise that there is always more work to do. In the coming year, we are committed to:

  • Development Programs: Expanding initiatives to support women in leadership roles through training, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Inclusive Policies: Regularly reviewing workplace policies to ensure they promote equity and inclusion. Our new Menopause policy is a good example. Without adequate support, employees experiencing menopause can face discomfort and career setbacks.

Empowering the Next Generation

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a powerful reminder to celebrate the achievements of women, raise awareness of gender equality, and inspire the next generation to dream big. At Kersia UK, we are proud to highlight the voices of the incredible women in our team who are making a difference every day.

Kirsty Murray encourages young women to dream big, reminding them that their ambitions can become reality: “Stop doubting yourself—you can do it because you already are!” Chrissie Flores echoes this sentiment, advising, “Always look at the long game and build bridges rather than burning them. You never know when you might cross paths again.” Justyna Trela adds, “Believe in yourself, trust your skills, and be your biggest fan. Don’t be afraid of change.” Their words emphasise resilience, self-belief, and the power of perseverance.

The Power of Change and Growth

For Lydia Vaughan, IWD is about championing diversity and lifting each other up. Reflecting on her own career shift from teaching to HR, she shares, “It’s okay to leave when something isn’t working. Change is challenging but can lead to incredible growth.” Paula Capaldi, who has thrived in a traditionally male-dominated industry, highlights the importance of representation: “I had great role models, both male and female, who supported me. Kersia has a strong ethos of women supporting women, and we should embrace that at every stage of our careers.”

Finding Purpose and Motivation

Many of our team members find deep purpose in their work. Justyna enjoys “solving problems and making a positive impact,” while Rajvinder Parmer thrives on “the problem-solving nature of software development.” Tamara Blackler appreciates the food industry's role in safety and hygiene, saying, “It’s rewarding to know my work helps ensure food safety.” Their passion showcases how meaningful work fuels motivation and success.

Diversity: A Strength for Success

At Kersia, diversity of thought and experience is a driving force for innovation. Lydia explains, “Bringing different perspectives to the table leads to more creativity and smarter problem-solving.” Paula adds, “Diverse teams help us align better with our customers’ needs.” Tamara agrees, stating, “Having varied experiences ensures we stay adaptable, innovative, and responsive to change.”

Advice from Inspiring Women

Sam Gillespie emphasises self-advocacy: “Own your voice. Speak up, negotiate your worth, and surround yourself with people who charge your battery, not drain it.” Rajvinder encourages women to “set goals, network, and collaborate to achieve success.” Meanwhile, Tamara highlights the importance of mentoring and inclusivity, urging us all to “advocate for and amplify women’s voices in the workplace.”

Moving Forward Together

International Women’s Day is a celebration, but it’s also a call to action. By supporting each other, embracing diversity, and promoting inclusive workplaces, we can accelerate positive change. At Kersia UK, we are committed to empowering women and ensuring that every voice is heard, valued, and uplifted.

This International Womens Day, let’s continue to champion, support, inspire and #AccelerateAction

Happy International Women’s Day!
