Kersia’s New Product Launch: Depta APL

Kersia UK has launched Depta APL, an alkaline pre-treatment detergent used to pre-treat soiling prior to the pre rinsing stage in abattoirs, cutting and boning, poultry processing, fish processing and bespoke applications such as carbon build-up on cooking racks.

It delivers superior cleaning with exceptional savings, time after time and is specially formulated to break down fats and proteins at the beginning of the cleaning process, significantly improving overall cleaning efficiency and reducing costs.

Benefits of using Depta APL include:

  • 30% reduction in rinse time - speed up your cleaning process with less rinse time required.

  • 30% reduction in water usage - save on water bills and contribute to sustainable practices.

  • 20% reduction in labour costs - reduce the manpower needed for the cleaning process.

  • 30% reduction in energy consumption - lower energy costs by reducing the need for hot water.

  • 30% reduction in effluent - minimise wastewater and its environmental impact.

Commenting on the launch Nicola Bellamy from Kersia UK said:

“We are delighted that Depta APL is now available to be used across the food processing sector. It delivers excellent results, breaking down fats and proteins at the beginning of the cleaning process, ensuring that overall cleaning efficiency is improved. It also reduces costs in terms of rinse time and energy usage which are hugely important in the day to day running of food processing sites.”

A Kersia customer who uses Depta APL also commented:

"We have reduced labour time on the first wash by 20%, and we have reduced water usage on the first wash down by 30% compared to the standard method of first wash. Overall, some very good results. Even with the cost of the chemical taken into consideration, there will be significant cost reductions due to the fact of less heating of water, and less volume going to effluent."

On the site Depta APL was applied at 5% at 54°C through a medium pressure system. The detergent application was quick and easy with a good coverage of foam. Due to the excellent breakdown of fats and protein during the 10-minute contact time, there was a significant reduction in water usage, energy usage, effluent and time and the visual result of the clean was outstanding.*
