Meet The Team - Kersia UK’s Declan Teare

Declan Teare is a Technical Sales Consultant (TSC) in Kersia UK’s Brewing & Beverage division and has been in his role for two years. 

What was your career path to your role?  

”I finished university as a PhD Chemist, then worked in various laboratories conducting postdoctoral research on surfaces, colloids and interfaces. I then became a brewer, and then subsequently Head Brewer at a different brewery. I spent 17 years being a brewer and I also qualified as an IBD Diploma Brewer during this time. I joined Kersia in May 2022.” 

What responsibilities does your job include? 

“As a TSC I am an account manager for all the customers in my region (the Southwest, from Cornwall up to South Shropshire), as first point of contact for support, advice and admin. The job entails going to customer sites on service visits and looking at site hygiene, conducting audits, offering advice, improving efficiencies, cost savings etc, recommending new / better products among other activities.” 

What’s your favourite part of the job? 

“My favourite part of my role is talking to and helping customers improve their processes and seeing them benefit from my advice.” 

What does a typical day look like for you? 

“No two days are the same which is one of the great features of the job. For example, I could be on a site visit at a customer in the morning, returning home to write up the audit / service visit report and dealing with all other enquiries that may come in. 

What's your dream job? 

“I’m not far from it to be honest, using my knowledge of chemistry together with my passion for brewing!”
